Senior Seminar is a required component for graduation here at Ridley High School. The purpose of the course is to introduce the seniors to current issues, economic concepts, domestic policy, and foreign policy decisions made by the United States government. The knowledge of these areas will hopefully make each student a more knowledgeable voter and citizen of our community.
I read an article about Moms who play games on Facebook. Statistics are beginning to show that a large amount of the gamers on facebook are moms. lol..
My article was about the facebook problem that caused the site to shut down for about 2 and a half hours which made many people unabe to acces the site and very unhappy.
My current event was about a woman named Teresa Lewis who was punished to the death sentence by lethal injection. She was charged with having her "young lover" kill her husband and her stepson for money. She is the first person to get executed in the state of Virginia in nearly 100 years.
I read an article about a 15 year old girl who pleaded guilty to killing her mother. She did this because her mother was ready to press charges on her 19 year old boyfriend for statutory rape. After she stabbed her mother, she and her boyfriend fled and were caught a few days later.
I read about a woman who was executed for her plotted slaying of her husband and stepson in 2002. Teresa Lewis was the first woman to be executed in Virginia in nearly 100 years. She was killed by lethal injection on Thursday.
Thursday Facebook had an outage that shut the cite down for two and half hours. The outage was a result of a problem in the social media networks database soft ware. The outage Thursday was the worst outage they've seen in four years.
My Article was about Eddie Fisher, a celebritie known for the most controversial cheating scandel."This all happened in the 1950s, an era when nice people didn't get divorced and women were supposed to make meat loaf for dinner while wearing high heels and flouncy, June Cleaver-esque house dresses. My article was about a dying man from lung cancer who wanted to see his daughter play a lacrosse game before he died. The problem was that the scrimmage game was months out of season on short notice. The game was scheduled anyway and it made the guy happy
I read an article on the Mosque being built near Ground Zero. I don't think it should be built near there because it is "like a slap in the face" to America and everyone who died on 9/11. I'm not saying it shouldn't be built, but they should go somewhere else to build it.
Va. woman executed for slayings in 2002. This article was about a lady in Virginia that planned to kill her husband and stepson with her lover for money. Her lover came in and shot them both dead one night and she was sent to the death chamber and got a lethal injection.
My article was on Yankee's game last night. CC Sabathia's struggled in a 10-3 loss against the rays. His ERA is 7.30 in his last 2 starts and the yankee's AL east lead is down to a half game.

The current event I read about was about a woman Teresa Lewis, who hired 2 hit men to kill her husband and step-son in order to collect a $250,000 insurance policy. After being charged with the crime she was the first woman put to death in the U.S. since 2005, and the 11th since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976. This article states that it is rare for our country to put women to death. In my opinion I think that in most cases the death penalty is for the right reason and if someone commits a crime that is inhumane they deserve the punishment and consequences of their actions.

I read about the facebook glitch. Facebook was down for a couple of hours for the first time in four years and left billions of users unable to access their account. The founder of facebook fixed it and apologized for the inconvenience. Jen Kearney
Scientists in the Colorado Institute for technology have proven, using the worlds most advance scientific clock that time moves slower the farther you are from a source of gravity, the Earth. By simply using one of these clocks on the ground floor, that measure time in units more than quadrillion times smaller than a second, and another on the floor above has shown that the clock on the second floor has moved slower than the one below.
my article is about the 15 year old who killed her mom. the 15 year shouldn't be going out with a 19 year old to begin with but its sad to hear that he as that important to her.
The article i did was Facebook blames outage on database failure. It talked about how facebook got a glitch and facebook was down and everyone was mad because they had no way getting on their account. But when it was fixed they apologized for the problem
The article I read was about the growing number of overweight and obese people in America. Three out of four americans will be overweight or obese by 2020. By 2030, 86% of adults in America will be overweight or obese. There has also been a fast increase of overweight and obese people in countries such as India, China, Russia, and, Brazil

The article that i read was about Didier Drogba, a former Striker for Coté D'Ivoire's National soccer team. Due to a long, tiring Chelsea schedule, he is withdrawing from play in International competition. This is a huge blow to Ivory Coast since he is such a huge asset to the team.
